San Diego’s picture perfect weather and sparkling views of the Pacific Ocean make us a big draw for convention attendees. But the Convention Center has taken it a step further with a new web site our clients can use to help increase attendance. Specifically created with a convention attendee in mind, meetmeinsandiego.com is a highly visual informational resource that captures San Diego’s “sun-sational” appeal and showcases all that our beautiful city has to offer.
The site's underlying theme and branding encourages convention visitors to “Come for the convention and Stay for the vacation.” Complete visitor information from
shopping, dining, nightlife, golfing, and arts and culture to the local surf reports and FAQs to acquaint attendees with the city and the Convention Center are featured.
The link is free to groups holding conventions and trade shows at the Convention Center and can seamlessly be integrated into a web site well in advance of a meeting to compliment promotional efforts and timelines. Convention Center clients using more than 750 peak rooms also have the option to customize the front page of the new site with group specific information including the name of the event, a logo and dates. This service is complimentary. Groups not meeting the room night criteria for customization can still link to the basic site at no cost.
Also within the site is a hotel page highlighting official room block information meeting planners have arranged for attendees. To encourage attendees to stay within the official hotel room block, a link is placed on that page directing them back to the group’s web site and where specific information about the official hotel room block is listed. This page is also customized with the group’s name, logo and dates, free of charge.
The Convention Center partnered with the San Diego Union-Tribune’s on-line publication, SignOnSanDiego, who provided much of the site content. This partnership enabled us to provide content that is dynamic and continually updated with the latest city happenings and information. Besides dining, shopping and nightlife, other content includes maps, directions and visitor safety tips.
“San Diego’s incredible weather and amenities have always made us a strong destination. This site is just another way for us to proactively help our clients to meet their attendance goals and for their attendees to ultimately have a memorable experience in San Diego,” says Carol Wallace, the Convention Center Corporation’s President and CEO.
The new web site program rolled out in March and going forward, clients can expect a Convention Center staff member to contact them to offer this new complimentary service. For immediate assistance, clients may contact their Convention Services Manager directly. |
