Tim Pontrelli,
Sr. Event Manager
 |
San Diego Convention Center Senior Event Manager, Tim Pontrelli, was nominated for a Distinguished Convention Services Manager Award. The award is sponsored by the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA), who every year recognizes the industry's best and brightest. Mr. Pontrelli was acknowledged for his professionalism and numerous contributions he has made toward the success of events held at the Convention Center, and our industry as a whole.
He was nominated by Robin E. Slye, Manager of Event Planning and Services for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). The NRECA attracted 12,000 attendees to San Diego last year. When Ms. Slye was asked to describe Mr. Pontrelli using one word, she said, "Phenomenal!"
"He had a great relationship with NRECA staff and vendors and everyone enjoyed working with him." She added that, "He is both technically and logistically savvy and is a wealth of knowledge. He's a great communicator."
Because the nomination was made by one of his peers, Mr. Pontrelli said the recognition was even more rewarding. "I'm honored that one of our clients nominated me for this award. Although I'm the primary contact and interact with clients in all phases of their event, it's only due to the attention and execution to details by my fellow co-workers that result in overall outstanding service. So I share this honor with our entire team here," he said.
Mr. Pontrelli has over 23 years facility and event management experience. He is responsible for planning and assisting clients with all their event needs. He is a past member of the International Association of Assembly Managers and the Association for Convention Operations Management. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Montana and graduated from the International Association of Assembly Manager's Public Facility Management School. |
