Brad Gessner was recently promoted to the position of Assistant General Manager and
DeeAnne Snyder was promoted to Director of Convention Services. Mr.Gessner is responsible for directing and planning several key service departments including: Convention Services, Restaurant and Concierge Services, Convention Staffing Services, Housing Services, Event Management, Facility Services, Engineering, Guest Services and Asset Protection. Ms. Snyder will manage the overall activities of the Convention Services team who provide event support and also generate revenue streams.
A 30-year industry veteran, Mr. Gessner recently returned to San Diego in February 2006 as the building's Director of Convention Services. Prior to 1996, he was the Convention Center's Event Services Director and helped organize the successful opening of the original facility in 1989. He served as the General Manager at West World of Scottsdale, an equestrian and special events complex, and is the former Deputy General Manager of the 360-acre Del Mar Fairgrounds and Racetrack.
Ms. Snyder was formerly the Assistant Director of Convention Services and a Sr. Event Manager for over a decade. A certified meeting planner, Ms. Snyder has been recognized for outstanding achievement in the field of meeting and convention services and has received the Professional Convention Management Association's Distinguished Convention Services Manager Award and the Hospitality and Sales Management Association's JV Cunningham Award.

Steven B. Johnson,
Vice President of Public Affairs |
Steven B. Johnson has joined our organization as the new Vice President of Public Affairs. Mr. Johnson is responsible for the overall development and implementation of government affairs activities and public policy, as well the Convention Center's marketing efforts.
In addition to directing a comprehensive public affairs program, he will develop new long and short-term strategies to enhance the Convention Center's position with clients, local stakeholders and the community at large. He will also act as the media spokesperson for the Convention Center on key issues.
Most recently, Mr. Johnson was an independent consultant offering strategic advice, communications and public affairs consulting services for a range of public and private sector clients including Hewlett-Packard Inc., the Levi Strauss Foundation and the National Minority AIDS Council.
