Convention Center to Take Responsibility for Convention Services
Clients can expect enhanced service and improved one-stop shopping when the Center takes on new responsibilities.  At present, the Convention Center is responsible for the selling and marketing of events at the facility as well as the hotel packages to support them. The San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau (SDCVB) has been responsible for the overall convention services component once an event has gone definite. Effective July 1, the Convention Center will become responsible for all convention services related to Convention Center clients and guests including Convention Services, Registration Services and Restaurant and Concierge Services. As always, the SDCVB will continue to market our beautiful destination and continue to connect you with destination products and services in San Diego.

This change means improved one-stop shopping because now one party is responsible for all facets of events at the Center. The best part is that the same staff providing these services that have done so over the past years at the Bureau will be joining the Convention Center staff making it an even smoother transition.

Here are more advantages of these important changes:
Convention Services

Convention Services Managers
The same team of veteran and highly skilled Convention Services Managers (CSM) that have serviced your business for years at the SDCVB will continue to do so as Convention Center employees.  Once an event has gone definite, the CSM’s will continue to provide you with the same vast array of destination services; everything from site visits and the finalization of your hotel room block to special event venue selection.

The Center is pleased to announce the hiring of three new Convention Services Managers, Diana Forcier, Gail Eason, and Lynda Lauerman, who will oversee the new operation.  Presently, these exceptional professionals perform the same duties for ConVis, and we are excited to have them join the Center’s Sales Department team.

Registration Services

Pamela Lopez-Davies,
Registration Services Supervisor

At present, registration personnel at the Center are provided on a non-exclusive basis by a third party provider. Effective May 1, the Center will begin offering Registration Services with its new team of highly trained registration staff, many of whom will be those previously employed by the Bureau years prior to the CVB outsourcing this service.

The Center welcomes Pamela Lopez- Davies as the new Registration Services Supervisor. Ms. Lopez-Davies formerly worked for ConVis doing an outstanding job in a similar capacity.  She will become part of our Event Management team effective April 5.

Restaurant and Concierge Services

Laurie Peters,
Restaurant and
Concierge Services Manager
The Center Restaurant Reservations & Information Booth will be fully managed by the Center effective July 1.  The diversity of on-site information services provided to Center guests will be expanded to include an array of concierge services including ticket sales to major attractions and activities and city tours. In addition, we will continue to provide you with assistance in selecting special event venues and private dining options and reservations.

Laurie Peters was hired as our new Restaurant and Concierge Services Manager last month and is now part of the Sales Department. She is also a former ConVis employee who brings a proven track record of service to the Center.
