Kimpton Launches Hotel Solamar just Blocks from Center
Hotel Package gets even Stronger with other Hotel Developments

Downtown
San Diego becomes more Accommodating:

Hip and urban, San Diego’s hottest new hotel is the bright and modern Hotel Solamar, a Kimpton Hotel. Conveniently located in downtown San Diego’s East Village, it’s only one block from PETCO Park and three blocks from the Convention Center.  This hotel captures the allure of our city’s beautiful setting, an area rich with sunshine and in close proximity to the ocean.  In fact, even its name, Solamar, incorporates “Sol” for sun and “Mar” for sea.  With a captivating sense of urban style that is sure to appeal to both business and leisure travelers alike, it features a 10,000 square-foot rooftop including a pool, cabanas, fire pits and outdoor fitness center. The vibrant décor and ambiance is sure to make the hotel a local hotspot. Opened this month, the four-star, 235-room property marks Kimpton’s entrance into the San Diego boutique hotel market.

The Marriott Gaslamp also opened earlier this year.  Delegates will enjoy this 22 story, 306-room hotel adjacent to PETCO Park and just two blocks from the Convention Center.  Its convenient location at the edge of the Gaslamp Quarter offers access to the historic area’s finest restaurants, nightclubs and shops.  All rooms come complete with San Diego Bay, city skyline or ballpark views.

The historic U.S. Grant Hotel is undergoing a $40 million renovation.  When completed in October 2005, it will become the newest member of the Starwood Hotels Luxury Collection.  The 284-room property lies in the heart of downtown San Diego just a few blocks from the Center, so delegates are close to all.  The hotel’s grand re-opening is October 15, 2005, which also marks the 95th anniversary of the hotel’s debut in 1910.
