New Quarterly Hotel Meetings Improve Communication and Service

“Only through strong partnerships can we expect to remain competitive. Long-term, our clients, hotels, and the entire destination will benefit from these briefing sessions and the resulting dialog.”

With the our newly expanded sales and marketing responsibilities in full swing, a new quarterly briefing program was launched for general managers and sales directors of San Diego’s hotel community. More than 60 hoteliers attended the first meeting held at the Center on Jan. 26, 2005. The meetings encourage open communication between the Center and the local hotel community and strengthen the partnership so critical to providing our clients and guests with the best possible service.

Going forward, hoteliers can expect to receive important Center business updates and other newsworthy information at these meetings. One of the objectives of the program is to keep the hotel community apprised of our industry’s competitive market landscape and its changing dynamics. At the last meeting, industry expert Michael Hughes, Associate Publisher and Director of Research Services for Tradeshow Week, presented an in-depth overview of current convention market pressures and the implications for our region.

“Only through strong partnerships can we expect to remain competitive. Long-term, our clients, hotels, and the entire destination will benefit from these briefing sessions and the resulting dialog,” said Carol Wallace, president and CEO of the San Diego Convention Center.

The next quarterly meeting is scheduled for April 28, 2005.
