The San Diego Convention Center Corporation is pleased to announce that Cheryl Kendrick is the new chair of the Corporation’s nine-member board of directors. A marketing and community relations professional, Ms. Kendrick most recently served as campaign director for the United Way of San Diego County where she was responsible for the non-profit organization’s annual fund-raising campaign.

Committed to volunteer service at both the regional and national level, Ms. Kendrick is past chair of the California State Commission on the Status of Women and has served on the national boards of the National Conference for Community and Justice and the Huntington’s Disease Society of America.
Chris Cramer has been selected as vice chair.
Mr. Cramer, CEO and co-founder of Karl Strauss Brewing Company, has more than 15 years of experience in the microbrewery field and operates four high-volume brewery restaurants in the San Diego area. Mr. Cramer currently serves on the board of directors of several associations, including the San Diego Taxpayers Association, the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce and the state and local chapters of the California Restaurant Association.
Bob Nelson is the new secretary/treasurer. Mr. Nelson, owner of Bob Nelson Associates, is an advertising and public relations executive with 30 years of experience in government and communications. He currently serves on the San Diego City Public Utilities Advisory Commission, the San Diego County District Attorney Community Advisory Board, the board of directors of the San Diego LGBT Center and the Finance Committee of the Greater San Diego Business Association.
Two San Diego business leaders have been appointed to the board as non-voting representatives of the hospitality industry. Victoria Hobbs will represent the San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau and Robert Rauch will represent the San Diego Hotel and Motel Association.
Ms. Hobbs is the president of Corporate Developers of America, which provides business and management consulting and training to private corporations and non-profit organizations. She currently serves on several boards, including the San Diego Workforce Partnership and the San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Mr. Rauch is general manager/partner with Del Mar Hotels, Inc., the parent company of Homewood Suites by Hilton Del Mar and Hilton Garden Inn San Diego/Del Mar. He currently serves as chairman of the San Diego Hotel and Motel Association board of directors and vice chairman of the San Diego North Convention & Visitors Bureau.
The Corporation’s board of directors sets policy and direction for the San Diego Convention Center. The seven voting members are appointed to three-year terms by San Diego’s Mayor and City Council. |
