Restaurant and Concierge Desk has all the answers

From ocean-fresh seafood to hearty steakhouses to authentic ethnic cuisines, San Diego’s dining choices are as abundant as its sunshine.

So it’s only natural that one of the most popular stops for San Diego Convention Center attendees is our Restaurant and Concierge Desk where a team of concierge specialists have the answer to everything under the sun in our world-class destination.

“We handle everything from dining reservations to where to have a heel put on a shoe to where to go to get a laptop computer repaired. And if by chance we don’t know the answer, we’ll find out."
“We are a complete, citywide information desk,” said Restaurant and Concierge Services Manager Laurie Peters, adding that no question ever goes unanswered. “We handle everything from dining reservations to where to have a heel put on a shoe to where to go to get a laptop computer repaired. And if by chance we don’t know the answer, we’ll find out.”

Available as a complimentary service during events of 1,000 attendees or more, the Restaurants and Information Desk is staffed each day with destination experts who, in addition to answering questions, can offer dining ideas, assist attendees with restaurant reservations or scheduling a guided tour, sell tickets to local attractions, provide directions and transportation suggestions for getting around our city and distribute discount coupons, brochures and maps.

“It’s all part of our impeccable, five-star service,” said Director of Convention Services Dee Anne Snyder, CMP.

Enjoying a prime location in Lobby B, the Restaurant and Concierge Desk is surrounded by a walk-through exhibit of vibrant, backlit displays showcasing over 100 different restaurants from Coronado to La Jolla and everywhere in between, including San Diego’s downtown waterfront, historic Gaslamp Quarter, Hillcrest, Little Italy, Old Town and Mission Valley neighborhoods.

Enticing photos coupled with a sample menu for each restaurant makes browsing through this interactive exhibit a must. Direct-dial phones are conveniently interspersed throughout the displays so attendees can pick up a phone and book reservations on the spot at the restaurant of their choice.

For restaurants that don’t accept reservations, our concierge specialists can call ahead and secure priority seating for a specific day and time. They can also assist attendees in making multiple reservations to cover their entire stay in San Diego.

For large conventions or when multiple events are in the building, Peters and her staff have a mobile information unit with 12 displays and a large flat screen TV that plays a DVD of the region’s most popular restaurants and attractions. The mobile unit is part of the Lobby B exhibit, but can be moved to the eastern half of the building near Halls D through H as an added convenience to our guests.

Also displayed next to our Restaurant and Concierge Desk is an Activity Wall. This expansive backlit wall display features photos, printed brochures and key information on San Diego’s hottest attractions, including theme parks, museums, golf courses, wineries, shopping places, harbor excursions and trolley tours. Our concierge specialists can provide additional details, assist with tour reservations and sell tickets in advance to many of San Diego’s best known attractions.
