One of the reasons San Diego is a perfect destination – aside from beautiful weather and miles of gorgeous beaches – is an abundance of cultural attractions. San Diego is home to several of Southern California’s best museums including a new one for children. On May 4, the doors to the newly constructed The New Children’s Museum will open at its new location, right across the street from the Convention Center on the corner of Front Street and Island Avenue.
Kids and adults alike will enjoy creative performances, fun exhibits and plenty of hands-on-opportunities for children to learn about the world around them. Attendees who bring the kids in tow will find the new museum offers multiple galleries for exploration, an open art studio and even an organic café. Designed to engage kids of all ages – toddlers to teens – the museum will also keep parents captivated as well.
Immediately across from the museum is a one-acre park, perfect for enjoying San Diego’s endless sunshine. The triangle-shaped park was designed specifically for children and offers three shaded play areas. Designed as an outdoor living space, the park invites children to explore the outdoors and complements the museum’s indoor experience. This enchanting park was designed by landscape architect Martin Poirer, of Spurlock Poirier, who also designed the Getty Museum’s gardens in Los Angeles. |
