Family-Friendly Downtown Parks

For visitors traveling with children, a daily dose of fresh air and sunshine are essential, so it’s a good thing San Diego offers wonderful weather and fabulous downtown parks. As a matter of fact, there are two kid-centric parks right across the street from the Convention Center where young travelers can frolic to their heart’s content while enjoying San Diego’s sublime climate.
Children’s Museum Park
The Children’s Museum Park is a vibrant public park opening in mid-April.  This brand-new one-acre triangular “art for play” space is next to the newly constructed San Diego Children’s Museum’s entrance on Island Avenue, connected by a crosswalk. The park features a large grassy area, three shaded play spaces, playground equipment, a reading circle for storytelling activities, and public art. Whether you want to spend a relaxing afternoon enjoying a picnic lunch or you’re traveling with kids who are in dire need of some rambunctious playtime, this park is just a hop, skip, and a jump away.
Children's Park

Just across the street from the Convention Center is the freshly refurbished Children’s Park. The park is comprised of lighted pathways, large grassy knolls, and a 200-foot-diameter water feature and pond, bisected by the Trolley. This park is a perfect place for running around, having lunch on the grass, or just enjoying the sunshine and a bit of green in downtown San Diego.
