Annual international award bestowed upon only five women in the venues industry

Outstanding leadership and lifelong volunteerism have garnered Carol Wallace, president and CEO of the San Diego Convention Center Corp., the Venues Today 2007 Women of Influence Annual Award.  She is one of only five women chosen for the award and they are the competition’s inaugural class. 

“The Women of Influence" this year included a stellar list of women who have had a major impact on their profession and have selflessly mentored others in the industry,” said Linda Deckard, publisher of Venues Today. 

The international competition is open to leaders in all aspects of the venues industry.  "The Women of Influence" were nominated and voted on by subscribers to Venues Today.  The newly formed competition gives CEOs, presidents, and general managers of venues across the nation an opportunity to select their female peers for this esteemed honor.  

When asked by Venues Today what is one lesson she has learned from working in the convention industry Ms. Wallace replied, “It’s not about you, not about me.  It’s about our people and the people we support, our staff and our clients.”
