San Diego Convention Center Scores Prime Site Award for Delivering Outstanding Service

The San Diego Convention Center has been honored with a 2009 Facilities and Destinations Prime Site Award for service excellence presented by the Facilities Meeting Group, based out of New York, NY.  The Prime Site Awards are voted on by the group’s readership of 51,000+ association and corporate meeting planners.

Carol Wallace, the president and CEO of the San Diego Convention Center Corporation, said, "Providing outstanding customer service is our top priority, and it is wonderful that our incredible staff is honored by the people who matter most, our clients."

Associate Publisher, Michael Caffin, said, "These awards always acknowledge quality in terms of service, the facility and the personnel at each venue or destination, but I would say this particular group of award winners went above and beyond, because they were able to provide quality in an economic environment filled with cut-backs and uncertainty.  These are people who delivered under unusually tough circumstances."  

This year, the Facilities Meeting Group presented a total of 200 awards divided into three categories: convention centers, meeting hotels and CVBs.  San Diego’s bayside convention facility has been a Prime Site honoree before in 2007, 2004, 2000, 1997, 1996 and 1995. 

Now celebrating 20 years of success, the San Diego Convention Center has generated $18.3 billion in regional economic impact, $364 million in tax revenues and supports 12,500 jobs countywide. The San Diego Convention Center Corporation is a public benefit corporation created by the city of San Diego to exclusively market, manage and operate the waterfront facility.
