The San Diego Convention Center (SDCC) took top honors at Southern California Meetings + Events magazine’s Best Of Readers’ Choice Awards event held Sept. 10 at The Studios at Paramount in Los Angeles. SDCC was ranked above the Los Angeles and Anaheim Convention Centers by Southern California Meetings + Events Magazine readers, a publication targeted to meetings and event planners and suppliers.
"Being recognized as the top Convention Center in Southern California is a tremendous honor," said Carol Wallace, president and CEO of the San Diego Convention Center Corporation. "Our staff has a long-standing commitment to not only meeting, but exceeding, our clients’ and their attendees’ expectations when they come to America’s Finest City."
This is the first annual Best Of Awards celebration for Southern California Meetings + Events magazine. More than 1,500 readers cast their ballot online this spring.
"We congratulate the San Diego Convention Center for being picked no. 1 by our readers," said Southern California Meetings + Events Editor Ron Donoho. "We were very pleased by the large number of votes we received in our inaugural Best Of polling and it looks like the cream has risen to the top."
Now celebrating 20 years of success, the Convention Center has generated $18.3 billion in regional economic impact, $364 million in tax revenues for the City of San Diego and supports 12,500 jobs countywide. The San Diego Convention Center Corporation is a public benefit corporation created by the city to exclusively market, manage and operate the 2.6 million sf waterfront facility.
